Rahoo is nominated for “Best CSR Programme for Education” for how we addressed a gap in CPD provision for teachers in the area of “diversity and inclusion”.

This came to light following the death of George Floyd in the USA which sparked multiple conversations about racism, globally and here in Ireland. It became evident that whilst Ireland has increased in diversity in terms of population, measures to promote inclusion and provide training for teachers had not been forthcoming. Many teachers felt confused and unsure how to broach the topic.

“Diversity & Inclusion in the Classroom” is 2 hours and 30 minutes in duration. This CPD course has 5 sections:

Introduction
Real People, Real Stories
Diversity & Multiculturalism, Black Lives Matter & Religious Matters)
Creating an Inclusive Classroom (including texts, communication, displays and resources)
Conclusion

Upon successful course completion, participants will receive a certificate.

We created this course because we want to support teachers in creating an inclusive classroom environment that helps to make all students feel comfortable.

We have recognised a gap in the CPD offering for teachers in this important topic. We were in a position to do something about this and decided to do it!

We have made this CPD course free of charge because we want as many teachers as possible to take it. The creation of this course was supported by Rahoo’s Pay It Forward Policy, which has supported other charitable causes since our company’s inception.

Since 2021, over 3,000 teachers have completed this online CPD course. 100% of course participants have ranked the course as Good – Excellent. We are proud that this course has met an unaddressed need in education and that cost is not a barrier for teachers accessing this important professional development.
