- Categories Events
- Date November 10, 2022
A Virtual Event for Teachers on Monday 28th 2022 at 7pm - 8pm!
Who is this webinar for?
You are a teacher who wants to increase your awareness around trauma and understand the impact on children.
You are a teacher who wants to learn how to respond compassionately.
You are a teacher who wants to create a trauma-sensitive environment.
You are a teacher who wants all of your students to feel safe in your classroom.
Why have you created this webinar?
Research informs us that over 50% of all children will have experienced a traumatic event by the time they reach adulthood. (Copeland, W.E. et al, 2007) These children often get stuck in a survival loop which diminishes their capacity to regulate their emotions and behaviour. They no longer feel safe. Learning can only happen when a child feels safe.
Trauma informed schools promote feelings of physical, social and emotional safety in children. A trauma informed school understands and recognises the impact of trauma on children and their learning and responds to these children in a way that promotes growth and healing.
What is included?
From Trauma Reactive to Trauma Responsive is a Croke Park C.P.D. Hour Webinar to support participants to:
- Understand the impact of Trauma on a child’s lived world
- Respond compassionately to increase a felt sense of safety
- Create a trauma sensitive learning environment

Why Play is Important in Teaching & Learning
Play is the way children interact with the world. It is the universal language of childhood. Play can break down barriers such as languages and accessibility. Play can take many forms including physical activity such as sports and games, imaginative play such as role-playing and pretend games, creative activities like drawing and building and social interactions such as discussions, chatting and engaging with each other.
