Assessment for Learning – An Effective & Efficient Approach

Rahoo has facilitated workshops on Assessment for Learning in schools and education centres across Ireland, and digitally in 2018 and 2019. Feedback has been extremely positive.
The Department of Education & Skills inspected this online CPD course for teachers in July 2019 and provided us with extremely positive feedback on the course content:
“The emphasis was on the meaningful collection, analysis and purposeful use of information acquired in facilitating appropriately challenging learning experiences for pupils. A good range of practical assessment for learning strategies was provided to support teaching and learning”.
It is an investigation-based online course which explores key elements of effective and efficient teaching and learning and applying Assessment for Learning in classroom practice.
This CPD course for teachers covers the themes of assessment for learning in comparison to assessment of learning, learning objectives, success criteria, effective questioning, measuring progress via self, peer and teacher.
This course is delivered in a practical, solution-focused, participant-led manner; and models effective assessment for learning strategies, which can then be used in the classroom.
Assessment for Learning – An Effective & Efficient Approach aims to:
- identify the benefits of assessment for learning as a teaching and learning methodology and utilise the findings as a means of engaging with this practice.
- lead to better quality teaching and learning, through the establishment of assessment for learning methodologies in the classroom.
- facilitate and support teachers to use SSE to become more reflective practitioners and make informed decisions about their pedagogical approach.
- showcase best practice of a core set of teaching and learning approaches including effective assessment, including utilising ICT effectively; which will revolutionize practice and improve student outcomes.
Successful completion of this CPD Course for Teachers will result in the receipt of a Certificate of Participation.
