Course Authors: Aoife Byrne & Gillian Corbally
Aoife is a primary school teacher who graduated from Hibernia College with a first class honours postgraduate diploma (Level 9 NQAI on the NQAI Framework) in Primary Teaching. She has received in depth training in wellbeing- and inclusion-related aspects of education including Carol Grey’s Social Stories, The Theory and Practice of Nurture Groups, and The Theory and Practice of the Boxall Profile. She has experience teaching all ages and have been teaching in a Nurture Room for the past 3 years where she has developed a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students at every stage, focusing on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, promoting positive relationships, and helping every child reach their full potential.
Gillian has been teaching in a large urban school for 15 years and for the past three years she has held the position of APII with responsibility for Code of Behaviour and Restorative Practice, SESE and STEM, Staff CPD and After-School Activities. In 2024, she wrote a DES-approved EPV/CPD course for Rahoo CPD called Learning to Play; Playing to Learn and in 2025 she has been presenting webinars for Education Centres on playful learning. She also write short CPD articles on the same topic for Folens Publishers. She is also currently working for Professor Emer Ring, Dean of Early Childhood and Teacher Education, Mary Immaculate College, as a Critical Friend / Learning Partner on a paper commissioned by the NCCA.
This EPV Summer Course provides you with an opportunity to reflect on your current practice and make an action plan to bring forward to the new school year. There are opportunities to collaborate and learn from peers and share ideas with one another in a safe space. Your learning is supported by your Professional Tutor and the Rahoo team to ensure a smooth process.
Upon successful course completion you will receive your EPV Certificate.
Rahoo Summer Courses are two weeks in length each throughout the summer period:
Group 1: 1 – 14 July 2025
Group 2: 14 – 25 July 2025
Group 3: 28 July – 8 August 2025
Summer Courses must be completed in the allocated time-frame.
