Are you good with money?

We’re sorry to be asking such personal questions, and especially to talk about money-related issues, but hear us out!
70% of teachers survey by Rahoo in November 2020 said that they were “not good with money”.
And I want to admit – I am in there with that 70%.
Clueless.
Hopeless.
A disaster.
We asked another question to some of our team and we got some interesting responses…
What is the worst place you have lived?
Nobody enters the teaching profession to become a millionaire – we know that money is not necessarily the main reward with teaching.
It can be a secure and pensionable permanent job – but not one that provides financial freedom or other options.
Often, we think “I only earn a teacher’s salary” and therefore it rules things out for us. Teachers often think it will take them a very long time to get on the property ladder… and even longer to be mortgage-free.
When I was living in London, earning a teacher’s salary starting at £27,000 per year, I really didn’t think I could afford to buy my own property. Because of this belief (which was ignorant as I had little financial acumen) I continued to rent and I did not make an effort to save.
There was no point!
What if that wasn't true?
The Teacher Savings Plan is the course I wish existed 10 years ago!
I reviewed a UK version for London-based teachers and I was blown away by the course content, knowledge and savings spreadsheet, completely tailored to teachers. If this could work for teachers living in London – one of the most expensive cities in the world – surely it could work for Irish teachers?!
This course is highly-motivational and talks teachers through financial information that is specifically relevant to them.
This online course shares various options with teachers as to how they can get on the property ladder.
An editable spreadsheet has been created with teacher pay-scales to help you figure out how much you can save and how long it will take you to save to buy a house – based on your input.
This downloadable document will forecast your financial options for you, depending on your point on the salary scale and other personal details.
All the hard work has been done for you – you just need to tailor it to your personal situation!
This course has been divided into the following parts:
Introduction to Finances
Option A for Teachers
Option B for Teachers
Future Options
Spreadsheet Tutorials & Downloadable Document
All teachers are welcome – as they say “the best time to start saving was yesterday, the second-best time to start is today!”
P.S. Say NO to mushrooms growing in the bathroom!
